Modern Mosaics Gallery’s Journey
The concept for Modern Mosaics Gallery evolved from the lack of this unique product’s exposure and recognition. Knowing something so beautiful could exist and wasn’t already in the hands of a monopoly-style business drove Peter Theodoropoulos towards starting multiple galleries within the United States, with plans for expansion into Asian and European markets. Four stores are currently in development in Atlantic City, Miami and Los Angeles; and up to ten are scheduled within the next five years.
Though the business is often viewed as a niche market, the wide variety and unique types of mosaics being created are attracting the attention of an ever-growing audience. The instant attention and acclaim received has already led to the development of six lines of art including categories entitled Abstract, Conceptual, Fantasy, Symbolic, Nature, and Eclectic.
The Conceptual category is one of Peter’s favorites because it encourages and inspires the mind to attempt to construct logic and reason, looking for patterns and leading one to an emotional ground allowing outside-the-box connections. The take-away becomes unique for each individual, requiring no explanation, but allowing for a personal interpretation and potentially, a more penetrating self-awareness.
The custom line is another category of personal favor, because the customer learns about the whole process and chooses new compositions, patterns, materials, framing, and much more. It’s a process that puts the client in the position of art director and they can create exactly what they are envisioning.
Each unique and masterfully crafted art-piece hanging in the gallery includes information on the mosaic, title, which line it is in, the weight, measurements and retail value.
The gallery is also in the process of planning multiple events, for corporations and institutions to private social affairs and open themed or seasonal events.
